The Anglo European Studbook approved seven stallions on its annual stallion licensing day held Wednesday 24th March 1999. In the small village of Schijndel, near den Bosch, Holland, Belgian and Dutch stallion owners
presented 256 stallions for a breeding licence with the Anglo European studbook, which is a part of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses.
This studbook uses a different policy from all other European studbooks. When a stallion passed he will receive a breeding licence for one year with a limitation of breeding to 30 mares. The following year, the same stallion will be presented under saddle so that a jury can evaluate the progress the stallion should have made. Based on that presentation and his performances in a officially supervised show circuit the jury will decide whether the stallion receives a breeding licence for life or whether the licence is prolonged for one more year. When the stallion has not improved at all, he will not be awarded with a new breeding permission.
1999 judges for the Anglo European Studbook licensing were Ms Vicky Thompson for the dressage stallions and Mr Geoff Glazard and Mr. William Funell for the Show Jumping stallions. 19 stallions received a 'one-year breeding licence' while 7 stallions were officially approved for the studbook.
