In 1998 the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses published its first breeder's rankings in their annual breeding guide. The WBFSH calculated the performances of sport horses over a period of nine years and ranked the horses' achievements according to breeder.
Outspoken producer of international top dressage horses is Herbert de Baey from Lemgo, Germany. From 1990 till 1998 the breeder of Reiner Klimke's Ahlerich, Nicole Uphoff's Rembrandt and Gudula Vorwerk's Rubinstein is top leader of the list. Klimke's Ahlerich was sold through the Westphalian Elite auction and became the price highlight of the auction in 1975. The Dutch Annemarie Sanders-Keyzer purchased her Angelo xx descendant Amon in Munster-Handorf and later became Olympic team medal winner with him in Seoul.
Pictured right is Borbet Rubinstein who is currently trained and showed by former Olympic Champion Nicole Uphoff. Rubinstein made his debut in his sport career by winning the German Bundeschampionate. He was trained up to Grand Prix level by Martina Hannover but Nicole Uphoff became his steady rider in 1997. Member of the B-frame of the German Dressage Teams, Uphoff and Rubinstein are a combination on which Germany can count in case of emergencies.
