There is not a horse show in the world where sport and breeding is so closely combined as that found in the Zwolle International Stallion Show.
In the show, that takes place from 9 to 12 January in the IJsselhallen, there will be first class stallions from home and abroad participating. All entrants have been approved as breeding stallions and will, via their offspring, influence equestrian sport of the future. Which ones will ultimately be the best studs is not predictable but it appears that, now and then, a sire is able to leave his mark on the breeders of distinction in a certain area of breeding.
While the show jumping programme is filled with interesting entries, dressage will also cover its fair share in the Ijsselhallen in Zwolle. As prognostication the Junior Riders team takes the privilege to expect the trophy to be won by:
In the Future Stallion class: (five year olds)
Negro ridden by Anne van Olst versus Donovon Bailey ridden by Dr. Ulf Moeller
In the Youngster Stallion class: (six year olds)
Gestion Ictenos under Anky van Grunsven versus Royal Diamond under Lisa Wilcox or Regal Dancer under Nicole Uphoff
In the Young Stallion Class: (seven year olds)
Sandro Hit under Dr. Ulf Moeller versus Roman Nature under Marlies van Baalen
In the Promising Stallion class: (Prix St. Georges)
Gestion Junior under anky van Grunsven versus Friendensfurst under Nicole Uphoff or Calambo under Alexandra Simons-De Ridder
In the Essent Best Stallion class (Grand Prix)
no doubt: Olympic Ferro under Coby van Baalen. In Zwolle, the Netherlands, this Dutch stallion will definitely win.
