Following the footsteps of Johan Hinnemann in his recognition as "Trainer of the Year", Sjef Janssen already has to shift back one gear and stay on the sideline instead of in the saddle.
Sjef was operated on a fistel at the end of his spine and is now needs quite a longe time to recover. "The fistel has been there for 22 years but I always ignored it. It got bigger and more painful, so the time had come for an operation," he stated.
The recovery forces him to take it more easy and that's why the 2000 Trainer of the Year, a title aarded to him at the World Cup Dressage Final, decided to take a break.
"Anky has to show at Monaco next weekend, and we decided to take some extra days and make the competition into a little vacation."
