Since 2000, the KWPN Select Sale, the official auction following the Stallion Licensing, has been a success for the Dutch Warmblood Association. The 2002 edition rose above all expectancies of the audience, buyers and association
Ed Constant from Wijdewormer, The Netherlands, paid the top price of 360,000 € for the gorgeous Sir Sinclair (Lord Sinclair x Flemmingh). Auctioneer Dirk Zagers hit this knock down price of formerly 800,000 guilders for this horse who will become the stable mate of licensed stallion Riant (by Jazz).
Albert Winninghoff, who already purchased two stallions at the very first Select Sale, now acquired two new stallions. Winninghoff bought Saumur-O (Narcos II x Animo) and the approved Sibon le Sursaut (Heartbreaker x Oula Owl xx), the two best show jumping horses from the Select Sale collection. The KWPN Select Sale auction pioneered in offering the possibility to purchase one of the Select Sale stallions online. Two of them were sold through the internet to an American buyer. Sjapoo (Caretino x Come On) and the approved Stolen Heart (Heartbreaker x Voltaire) were sold to the U.S. A syndicate constituted by Nico Witte, Eugene Reesink, Bob Rijsdijk and Tim Collins became the owner of the dressage prospect Sergio (Houston x Zandigo).
