Dutch Pony Chef d'Equipe Mieke de Kok announced her very first pony teams for the 2002 competition season. Mieke de Kok, who took over the position as team leader from Brigitt van der Eyken
, presented the pony teams as they are preparing themselves for the first CDI competition, CDI-PJY Bilzen in Belgium.
The B-team is shaped by Danielle Berning with Boszicht's Kimmy, Stefanie de Frel with Kelvin HH, Loes Huybers with Aristo, Michael Jansen with Valentino's Prince, Renate Langenberg with Hertenhof's Jade M and Lotje Schoots with Boy Liberty.
The A-team consists of former European Championships team members Inge Verbeek with Hogewalds Sultan (Welsh, by Downland Folklore) and Andrea Villaverde with Condor (Weser Ems, by Constantin). The A-team is further completed by Minke van der Linden with Frenkie Boy and a promising new combination from the Van Baalen dressage imperium, Marrigje van Baalen with Power and Paint. The latter rider is the cousin of Dutch Olympic team rider Coby van Baalen, which gave her the necessary liaisons to acquire a superb dressage pony. Marrigje is riding the dun Rhinelander pony Power and Paint (by Power Boy), whom she discovered through Johan Hinnemann. Power and Paint competed in the 1999 Bundeschampionate finals under Anne van der Horst and finished fifth that year.
