The United States Equestrian Team (USET) has announced the short list, which will determine the dressage team for the World Equestrian Games in Jerez.
The final selections were made following the Dressage Trials which took place over the first two weekends in June at the USET headquarters and Olympic Training Centre in Gladstone, New Jersey. However, with great interest the selection committee looked at the performances of the short listed riders who travelled to Europe to compete amongst a top field of the strong European competitors.
The results of Lisa Wilcox and Relevant were especially scrutinized and after her fourth place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDIO Aachen, the decision for the final American WEG Dressage Team was made.
The short-listed riders who will now travel to Europe for further training before competing at WEG in September, are:
Debbie McDonald and Bretina
Guenter Seidel and Nikolaus
Sue Binks and Flim Flam
Lisa Wilcox and Relevant
Christine Traurig and Etienne
Germany's Olympic rider and trainer Klaus Balkenhol is the US dressage team coach.
