The German Olympic Equestrian Committee has selected a surprising German Dressage Team for the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Spain. Of course it was of no surprise that World Cup Final winner Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty were selected
, nor that Nadine Capellmann and Farbenfroh, the 2002 CHIO Aachen winners, made it into the team.
It was suspected that Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff (pictured) would fill in the fourth spot, but with Isabell Werth's disappointing scores lately aboard Anthony FRH, Linsenhoff would be a more reliable choice for the team. Linsenhoff has been scoring strongly throughout the 2002 show season. Riding Renoir Unicef (by Rubinstein), Linsenhoff charmed herself with excellent scores into a third position in the WEG team.
More flabbergasting was the choice of Klaus Husenbeth and Piccolino. The young male rider recently won the German Dressage Championships for male Grand Prix riders and his 77.20% kur to music score convinced the selection committee to chose him as fourth rider for the aspiring gold medal winning team.
Former team members who didn't make it in the team this year were Isabell Werth with Anthony FRH and Heike Kemmer with Albano. Alexandra Simons/De Ridder's Chacomo was unfortunately put down last year.
