Gestion Janssen, Imke Bartels' only Grand Prix horse since the retirement of Olympic Barbria, suffered from a colic attack previous weekend, but survived this most feared equine disease.
Janssen was detected in his stall with colic and was almost immediatemy trailered to the veterinary clinic of Utrecht in The Netherlands.
For a while, an operation seemed inevitable but after two days of observation, the colic slowly faded away and Janssen got soon released from the clinic. The 11-year old Gestion Janssen (by Fierant xx x Rasant) is back in training doing light flatwork. Imke Bartels had to cancel her CDI-W Stockholm entry and is not certain if she will compete him again in the 2002 world cup qualifiers. "It's vital that Janssen will be fine again. His health is the most important thing," Imke Schellekens/Bartels commented.
