Ingrid Klimke's incredible 2001-2002 break through on the dressage scene has come to an end. The owners of her horse, the Australian Christine Doan and an Australian couple who have been Doan's supporters for many years now
, have sold Nector van het Carelshof to Fiona Bigwood.
Nector van het Carelshof is a 12-year old Belgian warmblood gelding by Randel Z and made his international breakthrough at the 1999 CDI Arnhem, The Netherlands. There, Christine Mary Doan rode Nector herself. The bay gelding has been trained by Jan Dupont, Michael Klimke and finally Ingrid Klimke before reaching ultimate fame on the scene. The highly temperamental Nector reigned surpreme in the CDI-W Berlin and later on at the CDI Stuttgart.
There were many rumours going round that Nector van het Carelshof would be sold and that Klimke would lose the rider if she did not financially secure the horse for herself. It was finally the British Fiona Bigwood who showed the money for this superb horse. Bigwood now has two Grand Prix horse, Nector and Afrikka. Bigwood, a British native living in Germany, trains with Dieter Laugks at Römerhof in Mettmann, Germany. The rumoured price for the horse is more than half a million euros.
