The Swedish Grand Prix dressage stallion Briar has been accepted for the KWPN studbook. Briar 899 is known in the competition ring as Bjorsells Briar. Under steady rider Jan Brink, Briar competed in the Olympic Games in Sydney and the World Equestrian Games in Jerez.
This winter season Briar has been successful shown in World Cup qualifiers, and this past year he was the second highest placed dressage stallion after Krack C in the world rankings.
Briar fulfilled the veterinary requirements and his collection of offspring was of a good enough quality for Stallion Inspection Committee. Briar has been accepted on the same basis such as "foreign" stallions Darco, Quidam de Revel, Narcos II and Biotop.
The 13-year old Briar was bred by his owner Hans-Yngve Goransson in Sweden . His sire is Magini, who is by Maraton (by Utrillo). The dam Charis is by Krocket (by Kaliber) out of a mare by the Hannoverian stallion Illum (by Der Lowe xx.) Briar is available through the stallion station Tivoli, managed by the family Zwartjens in Raalte, The Netherlands.
