Double World Young Horse Champion Rubels is back with his former rider Hans Peter Minderhoud. Seven months ago, the partnership between Minderhoud and Rubels, an NRPS and KWPN licensed stallion by Rafurstinsels, came to an end when the stallion was withdrawn from competition to focus on his breeding career. At the same time, Minderhoud decided to go independent and he started his own business in Leur, The Netherlands.
Nevertheless, the reunion between Minderhoud and Rubels is now a fact. Rubels, who was breeding at Stallion Station van Olst and who was in training with Anne van Olst, is currently at his new stable in Leur. "I'm ecstatic that Rubels is back again," Minderhoud told Hoefslag, "knowning that there was a possibility that I would lose the stallion half a year ago made my decision to go independent more difficult.
But all is well that ends well. Anne trained Rubels impeccably and I only had to get back on and ride him again." Hans Peter Minderhoud will be taking Rubels to Anky van Grunsven for training sessions and is planning on competing him at Prix St Georges level in 2004.
