There were quite a few surprises in the ranking after the third leg of the 2003/2004 KNHS/KWPN Stallion Competition in Zuidbroek, The Netherlands held begin January 2003.
At L-level (Second level), the Scandinavian bred chestnut stallion Scandic reigned supreme. Under Remy Bastings, Scandic (by Solos Carex) showed much suppleness and strength in trot and canter. 2003 Pavo Cup Winner Special D placed second under Sarah van Fessem. Hans Peter Minderhoud ranked third with the Westphalian bred Florencio.
The most exciting result of the day came from Hoomark Ro-Lex who defeated Hilltop Rousseau. Under Madeleine Vrees, Ro-Lex (Montecristo x Winckenburgh) excelled at M-level (Third) and beat Nicolette van Lierop on Rousseau (by Ferro). The difference was only 0.5 but Ro-Lex showed much rideability in his test.
Anky van Grunsven rushed from the CDI-W Mechelen to Zuidbroek to compete her AES licensed stallion Painted Black (by Gribaldi) taking the trophy in the Z-licht class (Fourth level) with great ease. Christa Laarakkers and Prestige VDL ranked second, while Marlies van Baalen followed in third position aboard Wijdewormer's Riant.
