Scandic Hoomark Ro-Lex and Painted Black continued their string of success at the final leg in the 2003-2004 KNHS/KWPN Stallion Competition Qualifiers, winning the trial in Goes, The Netherlands, and duplicating their victory of Zuidbroek.
At L-level (Second), Remy Bastings was the strongest aboard the chestnut stallion Scandic (by Solos Carex x Amiral). The excellently trotting and cantering Scandic once again fended off the 2003 Pavo Cup Champion Special D (by Ferro). Special D's rider Sarah van Fessem could not maintain a steady contact with the bit. Hans Peter Minderhoud and the Westphalian stallion Florencio (by Florestan) finished third.
At M-level (Third) Madeleine Vrees presented Hoomark Ro-lex with great confidence. Ro-Lex (by Montecristo) showed much suppleness and good back usage. His trot and canter are his strongest paces, but the walk needed to show more lenghtening. Finishing second in that class was Hans Peter Minderhoud aboard Rhodium (Ferro x Ramiro). Judges Ton de Kok, Cor Loeffen and Karin Retera praised Rhodium's improving relaxation in the trot. The winner of the first two Divoza Bokaal qualifiers, Hilltop Rousseau, had to settle for third place in Goes, but it was questionable whether he deserved this place. Despite Nicolette van Lierop's unsteady contact with the bit, Rousseau still remained very balanced and expressive in the three basic gaits.
At Z-level (Fourth) Anky van Grunsven and Painted Black claimed their fourth consecutive win. Judge Karin Retera gave Painted Black a 9 for his trot, despite a few tact mistakes in the extended trot. Christa Laarakkers and Prestige VDL are a growing combination gaining power and harmony at every competition. Maaike Lassche and Parcival finished third.
