The 2002 Hanoverian Licensing Champion His Highness has a new rider. Carola Kopellman, former German Young Rider and 2003 Reserve Piaff Forderpreis Champion is the fortunate girl who gets to train this black pearl.
"Carola will be riding him in the upcoming stallion shows, but all the rest will be determined in the future," Jens Meyer commented. "His Highness will stay at the station and is still available to the breeders." No definite contract has been signed yet, but the future looks very promising for Koppelman.
His Highness was purchased at the 2002 Hanoverian Stallion Auction after the licensing by Americans Doug and Louise Leatherdale. Mr Leatherdale, who is the president of the American Hanoverian Society, paid 515,000 € for the colt. Ever since the sale, His Highness has been standing at stud at Jens Meyer's in Germany.
His Highness is a gorgeous black Hanoverian by Hohenstein x Donnerhall and, despite his black coat, has produced many chestnut foals in his first crop through his Donnerhall heritage. Last year His Highness bred over 500 mares.
His Highness used to be ridden by Susanne Meyer, but the massive stallion often proved to be a handful. Koppelmann, who trains with American Chef d'equipe Klaus Balkenhol, will therefore continue the training of this horse. Koppelmann also competes the Hanoverian Le Bo (by Lauries Crusador xx x Eisenherz I ) at Grand Prix level.
