The KWPN stallion Painted Black has passed his re-approval test yesterday and can continue the the procedure of becoming a KWPN licensed breeding stallion.
Painted Black was rejected in the first round of the 2004 KWPN Stallion Licensing, much to the disappointment of owners Anky van Grunsven and Sjef Janssen. At that time, Painted Black, who is by Gribaldi x Ferro, received a negative judgment from the stallion commission because of his lack of movement and model. The rejection of the black stallion caused much stir in the press because the horse performed so well in the show ring under master rider Anky van Grunsven.
At the re-approval, the opinion of the KWPN stallion selectors changed and they decided to give Painted Black a second chance. The commission will judge the stallion's foal collection first and report on that, after which Painted Black will do his shortened stallion performance test on March 15, 2004.
