Queensland dentist and Olympic equestrian hopeful Ricky MacMillan has taken out first place in the Intermediate II on Thursday. She claimed the win with a score of 66 percent
riding the ever-so elegant and charismatic warmblood gelding Crisp.
New South Wales rider Glennis Barrey, aboard Gaucho II, came a close second with 65.8 percent with New Zealand competitor Louisa Hill achieving 65.3 percent to gain third position.
Local rider, Claire Wickins, riding the Belgian warmblood Jahnus claimed fourth spot while Gillian Rogers rode a superb test aboard the thoroughbred gelding Marakoopa to slide in to fifth place with a score of 62.3 percent.
Ever-improving Trakhener gelding Centaur, ridden by Ann Serrao was next and Victorian rider Karin Davis, riding thoroughbred gelding Mighty Heights, ranked seventh with 61.3 percent.
Snowy River Blackwood led his rider Diane Jenkyn to a comfortable eighth position at 60.78 percent.
With their warm-up victory secured, MacMillan and Crisp now head into Friday's International Grand Prix de Dressage Competition hoping to improve even further on today's result in order to impress national selectors and stake a serious claim for a berth at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
