Action at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre hots up this afternoon with some of Australasia's Athens hopefuls competing for Olympic qualifying points in the International Grand Prix de Dressage event.
In the quest for an Athens spot, Queensland rider Ricky MacMillan, a dentist by profession, will be facing her stiffest opposition from fellow Australians Heath Ryan and Mary Hanna as well as Louisa Hill from New Zealand.
MacMillan took out Thursday's Intermediate II competition, and will be hoping to continue improving aboard horse Crisp in today's Grand Prix with vital Olympic ranking points up for grabs.
Hunter Valley rider Heath Ryan warmed up by taking both first and third placings in Thursday's International Prix St Georges event on Donna Carrera and DP Christopher respectively, but enters Friday's Grand Prix aboard Greenoaks Dundee.
Victorian rider Hanna is another in the hunt for an Athens berth, and aboard Limbo, she will make her first appearance at this year's Sydney CDI*** International.
New Zealand's Louisa Hill, who finished third behind MacMillan on Thursday, is on the cusp of Olympic selection and looking to further impress in front of national selectors, once again aboard Gabana.
