2004 Performance Plus: A Look into the Collection 2
Cat # 54: "Satchmo" - Jazz x Zelhem - Chestnut gelding - born 1999
Catalogue nr. 40 is Satchmo, a son of the international Grand Prix stallion Jazz out of a Zelhem dam. Satchmo looks much like his sire and possesses the same dressage qualities as him. Sire Jazz competed at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera under Tineke Bartels.
The keur-stallion Jazz does not only display the capacity to perform at the highest level himself, he also passes his qualities on to his offspring. For years, Jazz has been one of the most used breeding stallions in The Netherlands, siring Prix St Georges horses Broere Norway and Pavo Cup Champion Robin Hood.
In the dam’s line Satchmo goes back via the Zelhem daughter Helma to the ster- and preferent-awarded Virgo (by Nurprimus).
The 5-year old Satchmo is a good example of dressage breeding. The gelding has a splendid conformation and is naturally uphill. His trot is absolutely impressive. In addition, the chestnut has a good walk and canter. Satchmo has so far been successfully started at L-level (German E level, US First Level) in dressage. He has a pleasant and friendly character and show great promise as a future international dressage horse.
Cat # 53: "Talent W" - Lancet x Ramiro Z - Bay gelding - born 1997
The 4-year old Talent W is a son of Lancet, the revellation of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Although Lancet started out as not being qualified, then moving into the reserve horse position and then into the team after the withdrawal of other Dutch Olympic Horses, the 11-year old Grand Prix horse Lancet became the second best performing Dutch team horse at the Olympics. Lancet (by Wenzel I) put down an impressive performance with his magnificent front and powerful passage-piaffe, which earned the combination the right to start in the finals.
In the dam’s line, Talent W has ster mare Jottie, a daughter of showjumping horse producer G. Ramiro Z. Jottie goes back on her dam’s side to the keur- and preferent-awarded Zottie. This mare is also dam of the international showjumping horses Chief (by
Orthos) under Toon Holtus and Eottie (by Ramiro) under Jur Vrieling.
Great-grandam Porta produced the NRPS licensed stallion Rancouver (by Romadour II). Other licensed stallions from this successful mare line are Irco Polo (by Marco Polo) and
Safari (by Sineada).
Talent W is a worthy product of his great ancestors. He has been saddle broken and proves a fast learner. He displayed an additional talent as a hunter.
