Nadine Capellmann's Holsteiner gelding Cockney (Caretino x Corso) has been sold. The 13-year old Cockney was trained and competed at Grand Prix level. Cockney is now stabled at a dressage barn in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Capellmann did not mention the name of the new owner, but said it is a young rider who will make the transition to Grand Prix really soon.
"I needed more time to be able to work with the upcoming FEI horses," Capellmann vindicated her decision to sell Cockney. "It was important for me that Cockney found a new family who would take care of him. He has found that in Dusseldorf."
The new owner of Cockney is the young rider Sonja Bolz. Bolz has competed in the 2002 Euro Future Cup aboard the Westfalian Goranus and showed Traumtänzer in the 2003 Piaff Forderpreis. "Sonja has been training with me in Dusseldorf for half a year now," Bolz' trainer Dieter Laugks explained, "she will compete Cockney in the Piaff Forderpreis next season."
The Holsteiner Cockney came into Nadine's barn in 1995 as a four year old. In 1996 he was trained somewhere else, but returned to Capellmann in 1997. She competed the bay gelding in the 6-year old division at the 1997 Bundeschampionate and won the title. In 1999 the pair won the Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals. Capellmann competed Cockney only occasionally in the Grand Prix at international competitions, and was never able to break through with the horse as she did with Gracioso and Farbenfroh.
