2003 European Junior Riders Champion Angela van den Berg has been proclaimed Rabobank Talent of the Year at an Equestrian Gala Evening in August, 2004.
Van den Berg successfully made the transition to Young Riders level in 2004 winning team gold and individual silver at the 2004 European Championships. Van den Berg received a check of 5,000 euro at the gala evening and received the opportunity to train weekly with Anky van Grunsven to further her skills in dressage.
Angela Van den Berg has been riding competitions from pony level onwards. She rode to stardom internationally by winning individual gold at the European Championships as a junior rider. Dutch chef d'Equipe Jan Peeters commented, "when you are able to produce such achievements at such a young age with a horse you trained yourself, you are a big talent." Van den Berg's equine partner is the KWPN gelding Mix.
Van den Berg is the fifth Rabobank Talent of the Year, succeeding Willem Greve (2003), Gert-Jan Bruggink (2002), Annemiek van der Vorm (2001), Gerco Schröder (2000) and Marlies van Baalen (1999). Van Baalen, Bruggink and Schroder were all members of the Dutch Olympic Equestrian Team in Athens this year.
