Dutch multiple Young Riders' medal winning dressage horse Berkel I Dancer has been leased to the Belgian young rider Leslie Goethals. Owner Joyce Heuitink has offered her top horse to her student Goethals, who has been training with Joyce for more than a year.
Leslie Goethals has been a member of the Belgian FEI pony team aboard Thomas Epona and won the silver medal at the 2004 Belgian Young Riders Championships with her own horse Lian Epona.
The 15-year old Dutch warmblood mare Berkel I Dancer (by Candyboy x Garant) has been Heuitink's steady partner in success. As members of the Dutch junior and young riders' team, they competed at six European Junior/Young Riders Championships winning three times team gold, three times silver and twice the bronze medal. The past two years, Heuitink showed Berkel I Dancer at Prix St Georges level, winning 31 tests in total.
Leslie Goethals and Berkel I Dancer have been training as a pair with Joyce in Groenlo, The Netherlands in preparation of a CDI Selection Trial in Belgium. The new duo won at the show in Liège, Belgium, with 65.25%. They hope to qualify for the Belgian Young Riders team that will compete at the 2005 European Young Riders Championships in Italy.
