Gloucestershire based Carl Hester has topped the latest edition of the British Dressage Grand Prix ranking. With a World Cup victory in Mechelen, Belgium, and several mid 70% scores achieved at the 2004-2005 winter shows
, Hester accumulated 335 points in total, which put him in the lead in the BD Ranking.
Hester is followed by Nicole McGivern who is in second place with 292 points. McGivern's high ranking is based on her outstanding performances in 2004, but in 2005 she has not yet produced any significant results. Richard Davison and Wayne Channon are neck-to-neck in third and fourth place only one point apart.
The British Dressage Small Tour Ranking is led by Emile Faurie aboard Lady Bamford's Fididas with 195 points. Henriette Anderson and Astonish are in second place, followed by Peter Storr with Wild Dancer.
The British Dressage Grand Prix Ranking is a good reference for knowing which riders, especially, will be considered for selection for the British Dressage Team that will competed at the 2005 European Championships in Moscow. The selectors will look at the average Grand Prix score out of four scores produced at CDI's during the 2005 show season. The chair of selectors is David Trott. He is assisted by Judy Harvey and Sandy Phillips.
