Though several Canadian riders qualified for the 2005 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verdern, only one of them will represent Canada at the show. Gillian Duke will be riding the 5-year old Riverside at the Championships.
Duke is employed at Gestut Pape in Hemmoor, Germany, and qualified Riverside in Germany for the World Championships. Riverside is a Hanoverian stallion by Regazzoni out of State Premium Mare Desiree (Donnerhall x Pik Konig) and descends from the famous Pirola dam line. Riverside is bred and owned by Ingo Pape
Gillian Duke already competed at the 2004 World Championships with Florianus, a Florestan x Damenstolz stallion, currently being competed at Prix St Georges level by Karin Rehbein
