FEI Group VIII Regional Dressage Forum in Sydney October 24-25, 2005

With the generous assistance of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the Equestrian Federation of Australia (EFA) is presenting the first Regional Forum for the sport of Dressage in the Asia-Pacific region on 24-25 October 2005 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

The Regional Dressage Forum is modelled on the very successful “Global Dressage Forum” that was first held in 2001 in the Netherlands. The Global Dressage Forum is so successful that it is now an annual event that is becoming more popular each year. A similar Regional Dressage Forum was held recently in Brazil and supported by the FEI. This is the first Forum of this type to be held in the Asia-Pacific region. Australia belongs to the FEI Group VIII cluster of countries that also includes New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, China, Chinese Taipei, Brunei, Mongolia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

The forum is open to participants from all Federations

The Sydney 2000 Olympic venue – Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) – will play host to a huge week of Dressage in October 2005 including:

Australian National Dressage Championships – 20-23 October 2005 featuring:

  • CDI World Cup Qualifier
  • Saturday Night Grand Prix Freestyle
  • National Championships from Novice to Grand Prix including Freestyles
  • Australian Prix St Georges Challenge Final

FEI Dressage Judges Clinic – 20-22 October 2005

  • Conducted by FEI “O” Level Dressage Judges Mariette Withages (BEL) and Mary Seefried (AUS)
  • For National Judges and FEI Candidate Judges wishing to upgrade
  • For any FEI judge wishing to maintain their FEI accreditation

FEI Group VIII Regional Dressage Forum – 24-25 October 2005 featuring:

  • Mariette Withages (BEL)
    Chairman of the FEI Dressage Committee and FEI “O” Level Judge will present:
    • Evolution o Dressage and Rules
    • Freestyle Discussion
    • Co present on training programs for Children, Junio s, Ponies, up to Inter I, Inter II and Grand Prix
  • Dr Gerd Heuschmann (GER) 
    Specialist Equine Veterinarian and former head of the Breeding Department at
    the German National Federation will present:
    • Functional anatomy and the influence on classical training
  • Jean Bemelmans (BEL)
    German-based Trainer of the Silver Medal-winning Spanish Dressage team at Athens Olympics will present:
    • The Importance of the Training Scale
    • Co present on training programs for Children, Junio s, Ponies, up to Inter I, Inter II and Grand Prix
  • Angelika Frömming (GER)
    FEI “I” Level Judge will present:
    • Training o the young horse. The theory behind the practical work
    • Judging Young Horses
  • Michael Stone (GBR) 
    Head of the FEI Sports Development Department will present:
    • FEI Development Programs
