The Netherlands’ unshakeable Anky Van Grunsven is firmly in the lead with 81.319 points. The best rider for 2004, she has been in the lead for the whole of 2005 and is the only one to hold a score in the 80s. This month’s result is Anky’s personal best of the year.
Anky Van Grunsven is followed by pupil and fellow-countryman Edward Gal, who is more than 4 points behind her (77.151).
Jan Brink of Sweden, who conquered the team and individual bronze at last week’s FEI European Dressage Championship in Hagen (GER), progresses from 7th to 3rd position (76.897). The point difference between the 3rd and the 8th rider – Andreas Helgstrand (DEN) – is very tight indeed (0.845).
With 76.697, Robert Dover (USA) is in 4th place and together with the 13th placed Leslie Morse (USA) he is one of two non-European riders in the top 20.
The most spectacular progressions are unquestionably those of Finland’s Kyra Kyrklund who, after being 100th last month, is now 16th and 23-year old Laurens Van Lieren (NED) in 20th place (45th the previous month), noted in Hagen for an interesting and bold Kür.
