Following the refusal/sabotage of the Belgian Equestrian Federation (KBRSF) to send out two Belgian Grand Prix riders to the CDIO Aachen, the riders have decided to hold a "White Ribbon Campaign" at the 2005 Belgian Dressage Championships in Wiekevorst on August 26-28, 2005.
For the first time in history, two Belgian Grand Prix dressage riders (Mieke Lunskens and Jeroen Devroe) got the opportunity to compete at the most prestigious dressage show in the world, the CDIO Aachen. The Belgian Equestrian Federation, however, decided to boycott this by writing to Frank Kemperman, organizer of the CDIO Aachen, telling him that there is no need for him to invite any Belgians as they have to compete at the Belgian Championships. An absurd, non sensical KBRSF rule says that no Belgian rider can compete abroad if the Belgian Championships are hosted. One either competes there, or not at all.
The Belgian dressage riders are expressing their sympathy for Devroe's and Lunskens' misfortune due to KBRSF malignity by wearing a white ribbon round their sleeve or on their lapel at the 2005 Belgian Dressage Championships. The Belgian Dressage Riders are asking all Belgian riders and spectators who are competing or visiting the Championships in Wiekevorst (and the CDIO Aachen) to support them via this "White Ribbon Campaign".
Show you are one with the riders and wear white at the Belgian Championships next weekend!!
