Nadine Capellmann's Hanoverian gelding Elvis VA has won the 2005 Otto Lörke Prize, which honours Germany's most successful upcoming Grand Prix horse of the year. Elvis VA won the Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals at small tour level last year
in Frankfurt, and has shown his potential in the Grand Prix ring in 2005 by placing at the top of the leader board at several important shows such as at the CDIO Aachen.
Elvis VA is a 1996 born Hanoverian by Espri x Garibaldi II. He was purchased by Martin Schaudt at the 2000 Verden Elite Spring Auction for 57,500 euro. In 2002, Elvis became property of Nadine Capellmann. The Krefeld based Heiner Schiergen trained Elvis VA up to FEI level and still assists Capellmann weekly in the training of the sensitive gelding.
It is the 22nd time that the Otto Lorke Preis has been awarded by the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR). Last year, Alexandra Simons-de Ridder's Wellington was the recipient of the prize. The Otto Lorke prize for best trainer of 2005 went to Martin Schaudt and Heiner Schiergen.
