Spanish Olympic, World and European medallist Beatriz Ferrer-Salat gave dressage fans in the UK the benefit of her experience taking the THB British Equestrian British Dressage National Convention at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire, 26 -27 November 2005.
The 2005 National Convention was introduced by David Holmes and followed up by clinic and teaching by Beatriz Ferrer-Salat. Riders included Josephine Eley on Nibeley Union Jack, Gareth Hughes on Sandman, Jenny Ward on Stalin, Amy Stovold on Pharoan, Andrew Gould on Rebel G and Maria Eilberg on Two Sox.
A generous turnout of over 750 supporters braved the snow and ice and cold winds and had an enjoyable time, observing the diferent combinations and Beatriz' no nonsense approach to fine tuning. Her light touch and sympathetic seat helped address the training issues sought by the various riders. Also noted was an ample length of rein to encourage a lengthened frame where required, and a strengthened leg aid to assist in collection prior to a series of counter canter corrections. Each combination had differing issues from novice to GP but they were systematically addressed.
