2006 is an important equestrian year with the World Equestrian Games in Aachen (GER) coming up in August. Each country has its own qualification standards to constitute a team. The French Grand Prix riders can rally at six national and international shows
in total to ride themselves in the picture in the Grand Prix and aim for a spot on the team.
Two French national shows have been thumb nailed on the road to Aachen. In March, the CDN in Marq-en-baroeul was won by Constance Menard aboard Lianca. The second national show in Jardy is this weekend. International qualification competitions for the French elite riders are the CDIO Saumur (April), CDIO Aachen (May), CDI Bern (June) and CDI Pompadour (July).
In addition to these selection trials, the French Equestrian Federation conducts training seminars with Monica Theodorescu in which the Grand Prix riders can show their current shape. The upcoming seminar is April 19-20, 2006, in Saumur.
The French national selectors are Margit Otto-Crepin, Alain Franqueville, Isabelle Judet and Jean Luc Force. They will pick a team out of the provisional squad constituted by Karen Tebar, Dominique d'Esme, Odile van Doorn, Philippe Maynier, Hubert Perring, Julia Chevanne-Gimel and Constance Menard.
