The British Dressage selectors David Trott and Judy Harvey have selected the British team for the 2006 CDIO Aachen in Germany, May 17-20, 2006. The selectors nominated Emma Hindle (Lancet), Laura Bechtolsheimer (Douglas Dorsey), Sandy Phillips (Lara) and Richard Davison (Hiscox Karachi).
"Based on former recent results we have selected this team," David Trott told Eurodressage. "They are quite a strong team if they all perform well."
The British team will not be at full force in Aachen. Wayne Channon, team member at the 2005 European Championships and Britain's second ranking Grand Prix rider, will not travel to Aachen with his KWPN stallion Lorenzo. Channon is currently carefully preparing his horse for the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, after having shown successfully in the World Cup Qualifiers this winter.
"I am in no rush to go out. We already got good scores. He has done very well and done enough," Channon told Eurodressage. "I am taking my time to give him the best preparation so we can do well at the next show, which will be the World Cup qualifier in Lipica (SLO)".
Furthermore, Nicole McGivern's Active Walero is resting after the Sunshine Tour CDI and Henriette Andersen's Astonish recovered from an injury and will compete next week at the CDI Hansbeke. British European team member Fiona Bigwood is not competing Mr G de Lully this year as she's expecting a baby.
The cut off date for the selection of the British team for the 2006 World Equestrian Games is June 23rd after the CDI Barzago and CDI Achleiten. "The short list for the WEG includes all our World Class Performance riders," Trott said. "Sandy Phillips will be added to it at the end of June when we have our next review."
