Following the important German national show in Bad Salzuflen, German chef d'equipe Holger Schmezer announced the combinations that will make up the German team for the CDIO Aachen, May 17-20, 2006.
The selected riders are Nadine Capellmann on Elvis VA, Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff on Sterntaler Unicef, Hubertus Schmidt on Wansuele Suerte and Isabell Werth on Warum Nicht FRH.
The absence of the Bad Salzuflen winner Martin Schaudt on Weltall VA is surprising, as well as the selection of Schmidt's Wansuele Suerte, who appeared not fit at the show last weekend, instead of Forest Gump NRW. Furthermore, Heike Kemmer and Bonaparte are not on the Aachen German team either, though they are still strong contenders for a berth on the Geman team for the World Equestrian Games due to outstanding past performances.
"Taken the World Equestrian Games into account we decided to select a few new combinations," Holger Schmezer said. "That's is why the team for the CDIO in Aachen is a mixture of tried and tested pairs of previous Championships as well as new combinations."
Frank Kempermann, organizer of the CHIO Aachen, is extremely pleased with the strong combinations that are entered for his show. "The spectators are going to see all important competitions and almost the complete world elite at the CHIO", said ALRV-chairman Frank Kempermann. "Only the Dutch dressage equipe won't send its top team."
Kempermann stated that he regrets these "dressage politics" in the year of the World Equestrian Games.
