2006 World Equestrian Games

For the first time in Belgian history, Belgium will be sending a team of four riders to a World Equestrian Games. This year five Belgian Grand Prix riders were able to ride the qualification scores to participate in the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, in August.

Five Belgians received twice a 65% score from an O-judge in one year before the closing date of July 17, 2006 and thereby fulfilled the qualification standards for the WEG. Those five are Jeroen Devroe with Paganini, Mieke Lunskens with Jade, Carl Cuypers with Hofgut Liederbach's Barclay II, Françoise Hologne Joux with Born and Sophie Baetens van Lent with Dark Diamant.

"It's a luxury problem; never before have so many Belgians achieved the qualification score to participate at a World Championships," Belgian chef d'Equipe Cory Verbocht said.

A team of four Belgian riders will be selected to compete at the CDIO Rotterdam as ultimate test before the World Equestrian Games in Aachen.
