On Thursday August 10, 2006, Dutch chef d'Equipe Sjef Janssen staged a dress rehearsal competition at Stal Swanenberg in Schaijk for the Dutch WEG team riders as final preparation for the 2006 World Equestrian Games.
It was not an official competition, but just a show to check the condition of each combination.
Judges Ernes, Peeters and Sanders were asked to judge the test but scores were not released only a general ranking. The Grand Prix was "won" by Anky van Grunsven on Salinero followed by Edward Gal on Lingh. Surprising third was Kirsten Beckers on Broere Jazz, who beat Laurens van Lieren on Hexagon's Olright. While Jazz was nicely on the aids, van Lieren rode a more conservative test . The passage could have been more expressive. "After his excellent performances in Hickstead, Laurens seems to have taken it a bit too easy and he gets punished for it straight away," Sjef Janssen told a KWPN reporter.
Third team rider Imke Schellekens-Bartels did not compete Sunrise in Schaijk. The official excuse states that the mare has a cough and they don't want to infect the other horses.
On Friday August 11, 2006, the Grand Prix Special will be ridden in Schaijk.
