On Saturday morning october 7, 2006, the KWPN licensed breeding stallion Troy passed away. Troy collapsed in the walker and died instantly. The necropsy at the University Clinic of Utrecht showed that the stallion died of a ruptured aorta. Troy was only 6 years old.
The dark bay stallion Troy is by Negro out of keur mare Lieni (Glendale x Radboud x Jurriaan). .He was licensed at the 2003 KWPN Stallion Licensing and did his stallion performance test in Ermelo in which he scored 8 for walk, 7 for trot and 9 for canter.
Troy competed in the 2004 and 2005 KWPN/KNHS Stallion competition circuit. Under Niels Bax, he became the Z1 champion at the 2006 Dutch Dressage Championships (Hippiade).
Troy is bred by Mr. Klinkhamer from Graft, The Netherlands, and was initially owned by H. de Koning who then sold the bay stallion to Peter van der Zwan of De Keyzershoeve. The stallion came up for sale in the Cees Lubbers' executorial auction in September 2005 alongside Poetin, when the ING Bank claimed its money back that Van der Zwan loaned. Troy was never sold at that auction because Poetin produced enough money to settle the debt.
