As expected, Karen Tebar won the 2006 French Dressage Championships in Saumur, but it was no smooth sailing to the national title. Tebar won the Grand Prix and Special but placed fifth in the Kur to Music. Aboard her Hanoverian mare Falada M (by Forrest xx)
, Tebar stayed far ahead of the competition with her 69.708 Grand Prix score and 71.640% Special score. In the Kur to Music, however, she dropped in the ranking (68.150%) after a tension filled and error fraught test.
Silver medallist Hubert Perring rode his French bred chestnut Diabolo St Maurice to victory in the kur (73.350%) and placed second twice in the first two rounds. Overall, he landed a second place and received the silver medal. Bronze went to former national champion Odile van Doorn on the Belgian warmblood mare Parodie van de Wateringhoeve (by Donnerhall). The biggest absentees at the National Championships were French team riders Dominique D'Esme and Constance Menard.
