Belgian Grand Prix dressage rider Jeroen Devroe has signed an employment contract with BLOSO on Monday February 26, 2007. The Flemmish BLOSO society (Sport Development Society) will financially support Devroe from March 1, 2007, till October 31, 2007.
Aboard his Rhinelander gelding Paganini (by Pavarotti van de Helle), Devroe placed 10th at the 2006 World Cup Finals in Amsterdam, and 22nd in the Grand Prix Special at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen. Based on these 2006 performances, BLOSO decided to give Devroe a contract.
Goal of this contract is to optimalize Devroe's conditions to prepare himself and his horse for the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong. If Devroe stays on scheme, Bloso will extend the contract in November 2007. Devroe is only the second equestrian athlete in Belgium to receive a BLOSO contract. Eventing rider Karin Donckers is also paid by the society.
