A last minute change has been carried out to the Dutch young riders team prior to their departure to the 2007 European Young Riders Championships in Nussloch, Germany, July 10-15, 2007.
Cindy van den Berg has been replaced by Inge Verbeek due to unfitness of Van den Berg's mount Mix, who was lame at the final vet check.
The 14-year old Dutch warmblood Mix (by Cocktail) has an infection to the hoof. Therefore, Van den Berg unfortunately had to drop out but she will be replaced by the first reserve Inge Verbeek on Quidor.
O-judge Francis Verbeek, mother of Inge Verbeek, told the following on De Hoefslag website. "After we received a phone call from Tineke Bartels [Dutch Chef d'Equipe] we had a double feeling. Inge was in Aachen, because her boyfriend Tim Lips was competing there. We immediately called her in Aachen and started packing at home. Fortunately, Nussloch is not very far because the trot up is on Tuesday and the championship starts on Wednesday."
Aboard Mix, Cindy van den Berg won the silver medal at the 2007 Dutch Dressage Championships. Cindy took over the ride on Mix from her sister Angela who is the former European Champion. Last year, Mix had an absces to the hoof at the European Championships and was only able to do the team championship test, winning team silver.
Last year, Dutch young rider Desiree Senden dropped out due to her horse's lameness at the eleventh hour. The Dutch chef d'equipe replaced Senden with Lorraine Van der Brink, who ended up winning team and individual silver.
