Annually, two magazines in The Netherlands publish the "Fortune 500" list of the richest Dutchmen in the world. The magazine "Quote 500" prints the list of the richest Dutch people in the world (business, enherited wealth, etc), the magazine "Sportweek" releases the names of the 100 best earning sportsmen of the Netherlands.
In Quote 5000, the highest ranked, richest Dutch person related to the horse world is the Sonnenberg family. They cover the 8th place in the Quote 500 list of 2007 with a fortune of 2.2 billion euro. The Sonnenbergs are the sponsors of Imke Schellekens-Bartels and are the people behind the company Hunter Douglas (Velux, Luxaflex windows). The family lives in The Netherlands but they can also be found in their private castle near Lac Leman in Geneva, Switzerland.
In Sportweek, 78 of the 100 richest Dutch sportsmen are soccer players. However, four equestrian riders are also mentioned in the list with Anky van Grunsven leading as richest equestrian athlete. She covers the 12th place of this Top 100 with an estimated annual income of 3.6 million euro. Van Grunsven is also the best earning female Dutch athlete of the year.
Show jumping rider Jeroen Dubbeldam follows on 32nd place with an annual income of 1.75 million euro, followed by horse dealer Jurgen Stenfert on 46th place with 940,000 euro. Albert Zoer is on 55th place with 800,000 euro and Gerco Schroder landed 74th place with 550,000 euro.
The most earning Dutch athlete is the Antillian baseball player Andruw Jones with an income of 14 million euro per year, followed by soccer player Ruud van Nistelrooy with 8.8 million euro.
