This weekend the horse world of Denmark is going to pay the MCH Trade Centre in Herning a visit. This is due to the Danish Warmblood National Stallion Show arranged by the breeding society Dansk Varmblod.
Originally the event only covered the selection of young Danish Warmblood breeding stallions but this is a long time ago!
The National Stallion Show of 2008 presents a wide range of equine experiences such as a public clinic by a dressage world champion who will expose some of her training methods on the bumpy road to Grand Prix level. The event also offers everything the horse might need such as horse shoes, blankets, fences, stables, water walkers etc. Feeding has become a huge issue nearly turning into science and one will find that this event presents the entire spectrum of feeding materials, supplements, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, feeding oils etc.
The rider also has the opportunity to buy all he might need and the daily fashion shows help to decide on colour, cut, material and price category. When it comes to transportation of horses the range goes from a simple horse box to a fully equipped horse transporter with all possible facilities for overnight stays for the rider and grooms.
Jan Pedersen - the chairman of the Dansk Varmblod since 1994 – is very pleased with the constantly increasing number of foreign guests in Herning. – Every year I decide to spent time on watching the young stallions but every year I find myself spending more and more time on welcoming foreign guests.
Dressage world champion is impressed by The National Stallion Show
Anky van Grunsven arrived in Herning on Thursday and on the press conference on Friday she claimed that she was very impressed by the dimension of the event – quite a remark from a person who supposedly has seen what is worthwhile seeing within the equestrian world. Anky van Grunsven has started preparing for the Olympic Games of 2008 which includes a specific training program for herself making her run and train on a trampoline besides from riding. This kind of program is made for every member of the Dutch dressage team and is based on a personal analysis identifying the weaknesses of every rider. Anky was very pleased to be invited to Denmark and hereby getting the possibility to show and explain her training methods during the clinic which includes Anky showing her training of the breeding stallion IPS Painted Black and her teaching of four Danish riders.
Anky started her career with a Danish horse named Prisco. Since then Gestion Bonfire and lately Gestion Salinero have been important turning points for her success. Gestion Salinero is according to Anky the essence of the perfect horse. Anky used to have several horses on different levels in her stable but now only the horses Painted Black and Gestion Salinero are active and Anky tells that her career on the international dressage arena will fade out with these two horses because of her age and due to dedicating more time to her two children - Yannick and Ava.
A great collection of young stallions
The spokesman for the selection committee – Poul Graugaard is very pleased with the quality of the 3-year old stallions of 2008 both in relation to dressage and jumping skills. The stallions are evaluated in relation to their pedigree being mainly dressage or jumping. The breeding consultant Karina Christiansen agrees on the quality and furthermore adds that the quality of the 4-year old stallions is extremely good and that several stallions are candidates for the first place on Sunday.
All results from the weekend will be available on www.varmblod.dk.
