Austrian anchor rider Victoria Max-Theurer put down strong performances on Salieri OLD and Falcao OLD at the 2008 Stadl Paura in her home country Austria. Aboard the black Oldenburg gelding Salieri (by Sandro Hit) she won the Grand Prix for Kur and Kur to Music.
French Karen Tebar reigned supreme in the Special tour with her Hanoverian mare Falada M (by Forrest xx).
At the CDI Braunschweig, Falada M blew up in the Special, but this time in Stadl Paura Tebar figuratively held tight on the reins and was able to win the Grand Prix for Special (71.500%) and GP Special (71,440%). Max-Theurer ranked twice on second place with her Oldenburg gelding Falcao OLD (by Feiner Stern).
In the Kur tour, Max-Theurer pushed for power with her 9-year old Salieri. 69.917 % in the Grand Prix and 73,650% in the Kur to Music sufficed for two trophies.
"Salieri showed himself from his best ride and deservedly led the victory lap," Victoria commented. Victoria announced that she will be show casing a new kur to music with Salieri in the next few weeks. "The new kur is almost ready but not yet totally executable. The premier will not be long anymore. I guess in two to three weeks."
British Jane Gregory’s year of training with top German rider and trainer Ulla Salzgeber has paid off with high placings at Stadl Paura. Jane competed her husband Aram’s 17.3hh Dutch-bred gelding Piet for the first time to take the runner-up slots in both the grand prix and grand prix freestyle, the latter with more than 70%. She was also third in the Grand Prix and fourth in the Grand Prix Special with the 16-year-old Danish-bred Lucky Star.
Aram bought the 11-year-old Piet from Ulla last year and gave the ride to Jane in November. “I am slightly gob-smacked. Piet is such a flamboyant and extravagant-moving horse and I am so lucky to have the chance to ride him,” said Jane, who will be based at Ulla’s yard with Hong Kong-born Arum during their Olympic campaign.
Lucky Star’s performances also exceeded Jane’s expectations. He finished third and fourth in the Special tour. “Previously, his scores have always been mediocre, but through the training with Ulla we have achieved a completely different way of going. He produced two clean tests and is achieving high marks as well consistency,” she said.
Ulla Salzgeber is slowly making her come back to the international show scene with two small tour horses, Herzruf's Erbe and Wakana. Aboard the chestnut gelding Herzruf's Erbe, Salzgeber won the Prix St Georges and Intermediaire I with 71.333% and 71.500%.
"These were successful show days for me here in Stadl Paura. My young horses presented themselves well and I'm sure that Herzruf's Erbe will make a good impression in the Grand Prix ring," Ulla Salzgeber commented.
