One of Holland's most earning sport athletes on the Dutch rich list, Anky van Grunsven, went for the money at CDI Cannes when she won the Grand Prix with Painted Black and received 2,800 euro of a 10,000 euro purse. Swiss Silvia Ikle and Salieri finished second and won 1,900 €. There is much more money to be won in the Special and Kur at this event. It's the first time that Cannes organizes dressage at their show jumping event and tons of money is involved in this leg of the Show Jumping Global Tour. Cannes is an invitation only event for dressage riders.

Van Grunsven's trip to the Cote d'Azur was one of great competitive and financial success. With Painted Black she won the Kur to Music but more importantly, won 20,000 euro in prize money. Second placed Silvia Ikle cashed in 15,000 euro. The Cannes Dressage Invitational CDI was a test run for the Exquis World Dressage series to start next year. Certain riders (probably the already most successful ones in the world) will get invited to compete all over the world in classes for which the purse is promised to be huge. One for the money, two for the show...
