Iskander has been proclaimed the champion of the 2008 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany. Iskander led the pack of 16 stallions which got licensed at the grading.
Five stallions received the premium label. Champion Iskander is by Le Rouge out of Ira (by Hohenstein) and is bred by Hans Derlin.
"Iskander is a very impressive stallion with very uphill movements and a great appearance," Trakehner breeding director Lars Gehrmann said. "In each appearance, he showed himself faultfree and with energetic and superb hind leg action."
In the auction following the licensing the Landgestut Marbach and Helmut Freiherr von Fircks together acquired the champion for 90,000 euro. The reserve champion was Prinz Patmos (by Patmos x Kostolany). Bred by Anja and Volker Lüninghöner and owned by Petra Wilm's Gestut Tasdorf., Prinz Patmos sold for 110,000 euro to Nils Bezold of Gestüt Dreikronen in Kiel, Germany.
The three other premium stallions were Donaustolz (by Distelzar x Herzzauber), Syriano (by Gribaldi x Schwadroneur) and Delikat (by Herzfunke x Black Magic Boy). Gestut Sprehe acquired the black beauty Delikat for 100,000 euro.
The average price for a licensed stallion was 49,643 euro. The most expensive horse sold in the riding horse auction was Priegnitz (by Hofrat x Mahagoni) which sold for 35,000 euro to Nordrhine Westfalia.
