2009 Imperial Riding Cup

Antoinette te Riele has won the first qualifier of the 2008-2009 Imperial Riding Cup in Weert, The Netherlands, December 13, 2008.

The first leg of this special Dutch FEI Dressage pony circuit was held at Te Riele's home stable De Ijzeren Man. The Imperial Riding Cup is a special show circuit for Dutch FEI pony riders and its classes count as national selection trials for the Dutch FEI Pony team.

Te Riele won the Weert qualifier aboard the German Reitpony mare Golden Girl (by FS Don't Worry x Dancer), the pony with which she won the individual silver medal at the 2008 European Pony Championships. The palomino mare was outstanding in the extensions in trot and canter, but had a small mistake in the walk pirouette to the left and the pony picked up the wrong lead in canter after one simple change. The judges rewarded the test with a monster score of 71,93%. Te Riele beat herself as she finished second with her second pony Danny Boy B on a 70,88% score.

Finishing third was the brand new combination Maria van den Dungen and the rising 7-year old Majos Cannon (by Marchi). Though the contact with the bit was not optimal at all times, the combination looked promising and scored 70,79%. Van den Dungen took over the ride on Majos Cannon from owner Lars op 't Hoog, who has moved on to horses because he turns 17 in 2009. Van den Dungen also finished fourth with her other young FEI Dressage pony stallion Rembrandt (by Renoir). They achieved 70,70% and stayed almost two percent ahead of Dutch pony team member Anne Meulendijks on the cool bay pony Boticelli (by Brillant).
