Peggy and Perry Thomas' Hanoverian mare Brentina is on the road to recovery after the colic surgery she underwent three days ago. Brentina (by Brentano II x Lungau) was transported to Dr. Nicole Johnson's Humphreys Giacopuzzi Veterenary Hospital
where she was operated on to remove an impection in her intestines.
After three days, Brentina is back on a feeding schedule and has been taken out for short walks. "Mama is doing fantastic! Ruben [Brentina's groom] and I took her out for a walk today she was so excited to have us there," Debbie McDonald said. "We had rain all day and when we went to take her out there was bright sunshine for about 15 min. She mostly wanted to groom us which made me so happy because that meant she was feeling more like herself."
As colic can be life threatening McDonald asked every Brentina fan to pray for her horse. "I can't thank everyone enough for all your prayers, I really believe that they have been heard and hopefully answered. I also wanted to Thank my friend and teammate Robert Dover for writing such an emotional letter on his website. I have never had such wonderful things written about us."
