The FEI Dressage Task Force is currently reviewing urgently 2 of the 5 task areas that it was given as part of its remit by the FEI Bureau in November 2008:
these are firstly the issues surrounding the number of riders on a team and associated issues relating to the Olympic Games and secondly the make up of the new Dressage Committee.
The reason for urgency with these issues is because the changes to the Olympic Dressage format and the new Dressage Committee proposals will need to be presented to the Bureau for the meeting on 31 March and this needs to follow a period of consultation with Stakeholders and NFs. Following the Bureau meeting the proposals concerning the Olympics have to be presented to the IOC by the end of April at the latest and the process for the formation of the new Dressage Committee will have to begin after the Bureau meeting in order that a new Dressage Committee can be put in place at the General Assembly in November.
The aim of the DTF is to be able to produce a consultation paper to stakeholders and NFs either on or before 20 February. In order to achieve this the DTF members will be meeting by Conference call over the coming 2 weeks in order to flesh out the proposals that are being put forwards. DTF members will be consulting with Stakeholders informally in the interim to assist in the proposal refinement process.
