Hubertus Schmidt is back in a winning mood. Aboard the Danish warmblood mare Larina Høm (by Solos Landtinus x Carano x Lagano), Schmidt took the win in the Special at the CDI Bremen. Hedebuted this mare at Grand Prix level. The gold medal winning brood mare was previously competed at small tour level by her owner Swedish Minna Telde. "I'm very happy with Larina. She's only 9 years old and this is her first international Gand Prix," Schmidt explained. "And we get such a good result straight away," he added. Hubertus Schmidt, who is Sweden's team trained, mentioned that he currently has four highly talented 8-year olds in training of which he has high hopes.

The 21-year old Hedda Droege, who received the Golder Rider's Medal in November 2008 for her success at S-level, finished second in the Special with the Westfalian mare Fifth Avenue (by Florestan). "I had a very good feeling during the ride but unfortunately we had a big mistake in the first canter pirouette," Droege commented. Third placed Ludwig Zierer rode Don Androsso, a 7-year old gelding by Donnerschlag. "This was his second international Grand Prix and I notice that is much room for improvement in him," Zierer said.

Dutch Grand Prix rider Sander Marijnissen is on a roll with his Goodwill offspring Moedwill. At the CDI Bremen Indoor competition, Marijnissen won the Grand Prix with 68.21%, beating Isabell Werth and her up and coming GP horse First Class (by Florestan) by a fraction of a percentage.

Grand Prix Kur to Music

  • 1 Sander Marijnissen - Moedwil - 74.250% (Holland)
  • 2 Patrik Kittel - Scandic - 71.500% (Sweden)
  • 3 Isabell Werth - First Class - 70.850% (Germany)
  • 4 Victoria Max-Theurer - Falcao OLD - 69.350% (Austria)

  • 6 Katarzyna Milczarek- Ekwador - 67.200% (Poland)

The prize giving ceremony for the Kur in Bremen was quite fun. Second placed Patrik Kittel entered the ring without a horse as his Dutch warmblood stallion Scandic (by Solos Carex) was being tested for doping. Third placed Isabell Werth was gracious to share the ride on her First Class (by Florestan) with Kittel. The canter lap of honour went fine for this tandem, but in passage it was hard for Kittel not to bump in the saddle as he was actually sitting in front of Isabell. It completely cracked up Isabell of course. "Canter was no problem but the last passage had some impact on my manly parts," Kittel joked to Eurodressage.
