Among the stallions aged five years and older at the Danish Warmblood stallion show in Herning the Danish licensing committee approved nine jumping stallions and ten dressage stallions.
Breeding advisor Karina Christiansen commented:
- It is an exciting and very strong collection of older stallions of which several have international performance results at the highest level, which has made it even harder for the judges to appoint the champion stallions.
The handsome Chellys Z (by Chellano Z x Aiglon Rouge), previously owned by Paul Schockemöhle and now owned by BFC Horses in Denmark, is a top modern stallion with a huge capacity over the fences. In Herning this five year old grey won two jumping classes and was appointed as champion jumper stallion in the division for older stallions.
Runner-up was the Danish bred Bøgegårdens Chico (by Carano x Lancier) bred and owned by Jørgen Schmidt. He was awarded the breeder medal in silver for his excellent performance test.
The collection of older dressage stallions held a string of pearls. Many of the stallions have achieved outstanding results in sport and breeding, and once again, the judges faced a big challenge in appointing the champion sire.
- We have chosen a stallion which is not unfamiliar in the frontline. Damsey was already a four year old dressage champion at the licensing in Herning back in 2006. This strong mover, now aged six, was presented by German Jens Meyer and American Leatherdale Farms who have had great success with their stallions in Herning.
