The first Dutch selection trial for the 2009 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses took place in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 21 April 2009. The selection committee consisted of Mr Hamminga and Van den Hoorn and they selected twenty 5-year olds and thirteen 6-year olds for the first official training session and further selection.
Wim Ernes, head of the selection committee, was unable to attend the first trial because his airplane coming from the 2009 World Cup Finals in Las Vegas was delayed. The first official "training session" at which the long list will gradually be narrowed down to a short list takes place Tuesday 5 May 2009.
A few combinations which were invited to the trial were unable to attend. They get a chance to qualify for the long list at the first training session.
