The KWPN licensed stallion Tolando has been sold to Canada. Horse dealer Diederik Wigmans commissioned the sale of the chestnut stallion to Brittany Fraser,
who will ride him at small tour level. Fraser aims to qualify him for the 2009 North American Young Riders Championships and afterwards the Pan American Games.
The 9-year old Tolando was owned by Joop van Uytert, Quirien van Erp and his breeder Willy Wijnen. He is by Krack C out of keur mare Narina (by Rubinstein x Sultan). He won the 2003 KWPN Stallion Performance Test for dressage horses and was initially competed by Hans Peter Minderhoud and Edward Gal. The duo finished third at the 2005 Pavo Cup Finals and won the KWPN Stallion Competition in 2005-2006.
When Tolando reached small tour level, Tolando switched riders and was competed by Theo Hanzon. Because the stallion bred to only a limited amount of mares, it has been decided to geld him before being shipped to Canada to his new owner.
"He was sometimes distracted in the show ring because he's a stallion," Hanzon explained. "The new owners decided to have him castrated which I think it's the solution for Tolando. The new owner will have a super Young Riders horse. They fit well together and she could ride a whole Prix St Georges test during the first try out. The next weeks, he'll recover from the castration here with me at home and I'll continue his training. Then he'll make his first flight on an airplane."
The 20-year old Brittany Fraser hails from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and competed at the 2009 Dressage in Florida shows with Furio, her 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding. She is being coached by Ruth Koch, Albrecht Heidemann and Chris von Martels.
